As the glow of the embers of Summer fade
Autumn raises her head and flicks an abundance
Of rich, luxurious, intricate colours that embrace
And compliment each other
The Creator’s magical brush moves with deftness
To bring forth reds, oranges, yellows, greens, blues,
Indigos, violets, purples, pinks, blacks, plums and golds;
Colours varying in hue and strength like the burnished
Opulence and splendour of Cleopatra’s throne
Autumn raises her head and the pace of life slows
Reflecting her colours and tones
She commands that the harvest is gathered and stored;
The earth moistened and left to rest then she takes her
Exit… tiptoes out of Winter’s path
